Flying Eagles Head Coach Bosso Unveils 20 Players for the 2024 African Games

Head Coach Isah Ladan Bosso has completed the selection process for the Flying Eagles squad, which consists of 20 players set to participate in the men’s football event at the 13th African Games hosted in Ghana.

Notable members of the squad include goalkeeper Nathaniel Nwosu, Captain Daniel Bameyi, Midfielder Daniel Daga, and forwards Charles Agada and Olalekan Ibrahim.

Bosso’s squad also features defenders Musa Abdullahi and Godwin Sampson, midfielders Favor Izuogu and Ibrahim Idris, and forwards Nasir Muhammed and Sunday Joseph.

Nigeria finds itself in Group B alongside Uganda, South Sudan, Senegal, and Tunisia for the men’s football event, which kicks off on Thursday.

Preparations are underway as the Nigerian squad is scheduled to depart from Abuja on Tuesday. Matches will take place at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon.

In Group A, Ghana, Congo, Benin Republic, and the Gambia will compete, with matches taking place at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Flying Eagles emerged as runners-up in the men’s football event at the 12th African Games held in Rabat, Morocco, in October 2019, narrowly losing to Burkina Faso in the final.

Departing from Abuja on Tuesday, the squad is gearing up for the intense battles ahead, with matches scheduled to be held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon.

Reflecting on their previous performance, Nigeria aims to surpass their runners-up position in the 12th African Games held in Rabat, Morocco in 2019, where they narrowly missed out on the title, falling to Burkina Faso in the final.
