Mercy Eke, the triumphant winner of the fourth season of Big Brother Naija, found herself emotionally overwhelmed, shedding tears as she reflected upon the limited support she encountered during her return to the All Stars season.

Her journey back into the Big Brother house was fraught with self-doubt and criticism that weighed heavily on her spirits.

In a candid conversation with the well-known media personality, Hero Daniels, Mercy delved into the disheartening experience of facing relentless trolls and the emotional toll it took on her.

She vividly recalled a period when she began questioning her own actions, wondering whether she had erred by pursuing a second shot at victory.

The pressure she felt to reach for the stars and compete for the cash prize again seemed to consume her.

With a sense of vulnerability, she confessed, “I feel like I’m too ambitious; people made me feel like I’m asking for too much. What did I do wrong? I did not commit any crime.

The only crime I committed was wanting more, and I ask again, is that a bad thing for a person to want more?” It was evident that the weight of these judgments had taken a toll on her spirit.

Mercy further revealed that she sensed a marked contrast in the way she was treated in the house compared to Whitemoney, another Big Brother Naija winner from a different season.

She acknowledged that her fanbase was her primary source of support during her second stint in the house, lamenting, “I remember that we had another winner in that house, but the energy they gave me both inside the house and outside the house was different.

I didn’t have any support apart from my fans, it’s still in my head, and I’m not lying because it’s pure hatred and wickedness that I went through. I don’t even have too much; I just package myself. Even when I don’t eat, people won’t know,” said the reality TV star.

The situation only worsened as Mercy felt singled out by individuals who assumed that her past success negated her right to return to the show.

She emphasized that her apparent affluence was a mere surface perception created by her well-curated online presence, stating, “I’m beginning to realize that it’s hard for people to support a person that they perceive as successful. People were asking, ‘Why is she there? She has done this before.’

People just saw the hard work I put in; nobody saw what I had done to be there; they’re just seeing the flashy side and capitalizing on it,” she added.

In the recent All Stars show, Mercy Eke clinched the second position, with Ilebaye emerging as the winner.

Despite the emotional tribulations she faced, her resilience and determination shone through, making her a role model for aspiring individuals who dare to dream big and strive for more.
