AFCON 2023: Super Eagles Camp in Abu Dhabi Now Open

The Super Eagles camp in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is officially open following the arrival of several players and the coaching crew.

Seventeen players have been welcomed to the training camp by Head Coach, Jose Peseiro and his crew as preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations begin.

Team Captain Ahmed Musa is among the first to report to camp, and joined by Kenneth Omeruo, Moses Simon, and Enyimba FC Goalkeeper, Olorunleke Ojo.

Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, as well as Semi Ajayi, Joe Aribo, Frank Onyeka, and Ola Aina are in camp.

Portugal-based defenders Chidozie Awaziem, Bruno Onyemaechi and Zaidu Sanusi are also in the camp.

Also, in the camp are Ademola Lookman, Victor Boniface, Raphael and Bright Osayi-Samuel.

The Super Eagles will spend one week in Abu Dhabi, where they are expected to perfect strategies ahead of the 2023 AFCON finals.

Jose Peseiro’s side will return to Lagos on Wednesday, January 10, before traveling to Abidjan same day for the competition.

The three-time African champions are drawn in Group A with hosts Cote d’Ivoire Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.

The Super Eagles will open their campaign against fellow West Africans, Equatorial Guinea at the Alssanne Quattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan on Sunday, January 14.

Nigeria will come up against hosts Cote d’Ivoire at the same venue four days later.

They will round up their group stage campaign against Guinea-Bissau on Monday, January 22.
