Funke Akindele‘s highly anticipated release is poised to bring even more excitement to the producers and the Nollywood industry as a whole.

In an Instagram post, the co-director Adeoluwa Owu, known as Captain Degzy, shared the news that the feature film is making its way to the United Kingdom for the holiday season.

Following its successful Nigerian cinematic debut on December 15, 2023, “A Tribe Called Judah” is scheduled for distribution across UK cinemas by Independent Film Exhibition Consultancy (IFEC) starting from December 29, 2023.

Notably, the film recently achieved a significant milestone by becoming Nollywood’s first to gross ₦113 million in its opening weekend, accumulating a total of over ₦122.7 million.

According to records from the Cinemas Exhibitors Association of Nigeria, “A Tribe Called Judah” currently holds the title of the highest-grossing movie for 2023, joining other blockbuster hits like “Orisa,” “Merry Men,” “Kesari,” and “Something Like Gold” in shaping the Nigerian box office landscape.

While this success is a positive development for Nollywood, the profit-sharing dynamics between cinema operators and filmmakers in the UK pose challenges.

With Barny Emordu serving as the Director of Photography, the ensemble cast includes Ebelle Okaro, Uzor Arukwe, Nse Ikpe Etim, Genoveva Umeh, Faithia Williams, Nosa Rex, Greg Ojefua, Ibrahim Yekini, Boma Akpore, Paschaline Ijeoma Alex, Etinosa Idemudia, Juliana Olayode, and Yvonne Jegede, promising a compelling cinematic experience for audiences on both sides of the globe.
