Mortuary Attendant Caught With Fresh Head of Minor in Abeokuta

An attendant at Oke Yidi cemetary, Oke Lantoro, in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, has been caught for allegedly beheading the corpse of a minor.

The suspect, Kushimo Lukman who resides at 9, Abule Oloni street, was arrested by operatives of the So-Safe Corps, who were on a routine patrol in the early hours of Tuesday.

So-Safe Corps alleges that he has confessed that the fresh skull was requested for by one Chief Ifalonishe, who offered to pay him 50,000 naira, after delivering it at a designated place in Abeokuta.

Spokesman of the security agency, ACC Moruf Yusuf, in a statement says the suspect has been handed over to the police for further investigation.

The suspect, according to Yusuf, told so-safe corps interrogators that the body of the minor was brought from the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba, after dying from complications from a kidney disease.

According to the suspect, the parents of the dead minor who came from Ibadan, sought his assistance for the burial of the baby at the cemetery at 7pm on Monday.

Later, the suspect says he returned to the cemetery by 6am on Tuesday and chopped off the head of the buried minor before he was challenged by a So-Safe Corps’ officials on  a routine patrol.

The suspect was arrested by the so safe corps’ operatives with the fresh head after overpowering him from struggling with them.

The commander of the corps, Commander Dr. Soji Ganzallo has ordered the operation commander to effect the arrest of others involved in the act and his other clients.
