The Balogun of Owu kingdom in Abeokuta, former president Olusegun Obasanjo<\/a> has cautioned people against disturbing the new Olowu of the kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola, while in seclusion.<\/p>\n

Obasanjo issued the caution on Monday during a meeting of the new monarch and representatives of indigenes of the Owu kingdom at Obasanjo\u2019s Ita Iyalode residence in Abeokuta.<\/p>\n

At the meeting were Chief Doja Adewolu, Chief Niyi Adegbenro, and Shuaib Salisu, other high chiefs, as well as the monarch\u2019s wives and children.<\/p>\n

He explains that the meeting is part of the process of selecting the new Olowu, and the presentation of government\u2019s letter of approving the appointment of the monarch.<\/p>\n

Obasanjo says the meeting is necessary to present the new Olowu to all the representatives of the Owu indigenes, assuring the monarch of the continued support whenever he requires it.<\/p>\n

The meeting signalled the take off of the rituals, that the new monarch, will undergo, before ascending the throne, vacated by the late Olowu of Owu, Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu on December 20, 2021.<\/p>\n

Obasanjo told the meeting that Ogun state government wants the new Olowu to meet with the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Gbadebo before embarking on his seclusion.<\/p>\n

According to him, the election of the new Olowu is the fastest time a traditional ruler will die and a new one elected.<\/p>\n
