House of representatives has asked Nigeria customs service<\/a> to shift its border checkpoint near Idiroko border with Benin Republic in Ogun state backward to Ihumbo.<\/p>\n

The lawmakers asks the agency to dismantle its checkpoints at Ajilete, which according to them is beyond 20 kilometres to the border.<\/p>\n

The house passed the resolution during the Tuesday plenary, following a motion raised by Kolawole Lawal who called for the relocation of the customs border checkpoint near Idiroko to an accurate 20 kilometre from the land border.<\/p>\n

According to him, the 20 kilometres to the land border in the case of Idiroko, wrongly terminated at Ajilete, instead of Ihumbo.<\/p>\n

Adopting the motion, the house also asks border security forces to allow non-petrol items such as biscuits, cement, soft drinks and other consumables to go beyond the 20 kilometres to the border.<\/p>\n

The house said this would enable people in the axis to conduct legitimate business with ease.<\/p>\n
