Peace has returned to Lafenwa axis of Abeokuta<\/a>, the Ogun State capital, after fighting between hoodlums and a group of people in the area.<\/p>\n

The fighting which started on Monday night, extended into Tuesday morning forcing traders in the axis, to hurriedly shut their shops.<\/p>\n

Armed policemen were deployed to prevent the spread of the clashes from an area around Lafenwa police station, to other parts of the city.<\/p>\n

Properties were set on fire and bonfire made on the road, amidst sporadic gunshots during the fighting, which left several people injured.<\/p>\n

The state police commissioner, Lanre Bankole confirmed the clashes, while speaking to newsmen on the sideline of a security symposium held on Tuesday, at the Valleyview hall of the government house, Oke Igbein, Abeokuta.<\/p>\n

He said arrests have been made by the police, while the incident was being investigated to avoid re-occurrence.<\/p>\n

The police commissioner dismissed report that lives were lost in the clashes, adding that peace has been restored to the area.<\/p>\n
