Women Top List Of Voters Registered In Ogun For 2023 Polls

Women constitute the highest number of registered voters who will participate in the 2023 polls in Ogun State.

Ogun State now has a total of two million, 688 thousand and 305 registered voters, according to the final voter register unveiled on Wednesday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Out of the registered voters in the state, one million, 365 thousand and 797 are females or 50.8 percent of voters registered in the state for the 2023 polls.

The number of male registered voters in the state is one million, 322 thousand and 508.

According to data from Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ogun is not one of the ten states with the highest number of registered voters.

Also, in the south west region, Ogun State came second behind Lagos State which recorded seven million, 60 thousand and 195 registered voters.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said there are a total of 93,469,008 eligible voters in its voters register after the final cleanup that includes the removal of double registration and underage voters.

This figure, the commission said, was arrived at after the review of 54,264 objections raised by Nigerians following the initial display of the voter register on its website in November 2022.

INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed these at a meeting with members of political parties at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.

Mr Yakubu also reiterated that the 2023 elections would hold as planned as it does not contemplate any adjustment to the election timetable.
