Vote for Candidates Based on Competence, Not Tribal and Religious Sentiments – Tinubu’s Support Group

A political support group for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has advised Nigerians to vote for candidates based on competence and not tribal and religious sentiments during the 2023 elections.

The group, under the aegis of the Ogun State chapter of Progressives Volunteers for Tinubu/Shetima, said ethnicity and religion should not be parameters to vote for a candidate in the elections.

The state coordinator of the group, Deji Ogundimu, addressing a news conference in Abeokuta, on Thursday, said one of the ways to have a new Nigeria is to support Tinubu’s ambition to emerge as the next president of the country.

He urges Nigerians to vote for Tinubu not because of his tribe or religion, but his past achievements and record during his tenure as the governor of Lagos State.

Ogundimu points to Tinubu’s contributions to the development of politics in Nigeria, development of Lagos State and Nigeria as a country, as great achievements that gives Nigeria a hope of better tomorrow.

He added that Tinubu did not appoint his running mate, former governor, Kashim Shettima, as his running mate, based on religion or ethnicity, but competence in leadership.

According to him, so many things have been used by the political class to divide Nigerians for them not to have a straight thought on how to address basic issues which will actually move the country forward.

He said that religious sentiment is rather unfortunate that it is becoming more prominent in the political atmosphere today.
