US President Calls Egyptian President, President of Mexico

United Sate (US) President Joe Biden has humored some Egyptians after he mistakenly referred to Egypt’s President Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi as the President of Mexico.

President Biden goofed during a press conference late on Thursday, while commenting on the ongoing war between Israel and Gaza initially the president of Mexico.

Mexico’s President is called Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Some amused Egyptians have taken to social media to point out that the mix-up is humorous as Egyptians have long nicknamed President Al-Sisi “El Meksiki”, which translates to “the Mexican” to avoid censorship.

In the US, the mix-up has sparked concerns about President Biden’s health and cognitive abilities, but the leader has defended his mental fitness for the presidency.

Biden allies were quick to dismiss the fixation on the slip-up, arguing critics and reporters were missing the broader point that he had delivered impassioned and cogent remarks and instead chose to hone in on one sentence.

Biden addressed their concern, gave the access they wanted, patiently waited through wildly screamed questions, and gave a long substantive answer that marked a shift in US foreign policy on a major conflict. They’re fixating on a slip, House Democratic aide Aaron Fritschner wrote on X.

It was the third time this week Biden has appeared to confuse world leaders.
