The APC, hours to the take off of its presidential primaries is yet to decide on the mode of picking its candidate for the 2023 poll.

Till this morning, consultations are still ongoing at different levels for a likely consensus candidate.

Last night, President Buhari held a fresh series of consultative meetings to break the deadlock, hours to the primaries.

He met with the party’s national advisory committee where he again urged members to use their influence on the 23 aspirants to agree to pick one of them as the consensus candidate before the primaries.

Despite the uncertainty, Buhari was confident that the APC would win the 2023 polls at all levels.

Meanwhile, the south west APC leaders and presidential aspirants from the region are yet to agree on a consensus candidate.

The leaders, state governors and the aspirants, including Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and others had met at a meeting lasting from last Saturday night to Sunday.

Rockcity FM gathered that another meeting scheduled to hold last night in Abuja failed to take place.

Sources close to the meeting said most of the top aspirants refused to step down for another.

Meanwhile, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has faulted the northern states governors who demanded that all aspirants for the APC presidential ticket from the north should quit the race.

Eleven northern state governors on saturday night also asked the national working committee to give the presidential ticket to an aspirant from the south.

But the national president of the ACF, Yerima Shetima on Sunday asks President Buhari to reject the recommendation of the northern state governors.

According to Shetima, the eleven governors took the critical decision without consulting the major stakeholders in the north.

The forum said the decision of the northern governors is undemocratic, as it would disenfranchise northerners of their constitutional rights to contest for the APC ticket.
