Umahi Orders Security Agencies To Shoot Armed Hoodlums At Sight

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State has ordered security agencies in the state to shoot to death hoodlums sighted carrying a gun or any kind of dangerous weapons.

The state information commissioner, Uchenna Orji said the directive was issued in the wake of the illegal enforcement of the stay-at-home order imposed on the south region by a faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the state.

Gunmen suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) faction on Monday morning, firing gunshots sporadically in a section of Abakaliki caused panic in the city forcing businesses and offices to hurriedly shut down.

The governor asks people and business operators in the state to continue to disregard the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) directive, which according to him is false.

Umahi urges resident s to report any suspicious movement to the nearest police post or security checkpoint.

Recall that suspected arsonists have attack another office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ebonyi State, ahead of the 2023 polls.

The latest attack on was on the INEC office at Iboko in the Izzi Local Government Area. Items destroyed during the attack, included 340 ballot boxes, 130 voting cubicles, 14 electricity generating sets, a large water storage tanks, office furniture and fixtures, as well as permanent voter
