Tribunal Permits Ogun NNPP To Inspect Material Used For Governorship Poll

Ogun State Governorship Poll Petitions Tribunal has granted the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), permission to inspect all the material used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the March 18 governorship poll in the state.

Materials to be inspected by the party’s lawyers and agents included the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

The tribunal chairman, Justice Argum Ashom granted NNPP the permission, while ruling on Monday, on a motion ex parte filed by the party to challenge the outcome of the poll in Abeokuta.

The party, in the motion ex parte supported by an affidavit deposed to by its state chairman, Olaposi Oginni, complained that INEC failed to put its name and logo on the ballot papers used for the polls.

The tribunal ordered INEC to allow NNPP to photocopy, scan and record all the sensitive materials used in conducting the poll.

13 candidates contested the March 18 governorship poll, but Governor Dapo Abiodun of the APC was declared the winner for scoring the highest number of votes.

The PDP candidate, Ladi Adebutu also sought to challenge the results of the poll.
