Technicians Battle To Restore Power Supply To Abeokuta

Technicians are battling to restore bulk power supply to Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital and its environs following the collapse of nine high tension electricity transmission lines.

Technicians are now using old Ojere transmission lines to supply the city until the collapsed towers are replaced.

The collapse of the nine 56 to tower 65 on Tuesday, along Abeokuta-Papalanto 132 KV transmission lines since Tuesday, had cut off power supply from the city.

General Manager of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Engineer Mojeed Akintola, said towers located in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area were massively vandalized.

He explained that a team deployed after tripping was recorded on the transmission lines, later discovered the collapsed towers.
