Six INEC Adhoc Staff Missing, Others Injured In Attack On Buses In Kogi

Six persons, including two members of the National Youth Service Corps are missing, following attacks on buses in Kogi state.

Several others in the buses sustained gunshot injuries in the attacks carried out at about 2 am on Sunday.

The gunmen attacked a convoy of six buses coinveying officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The INEC officials, including ad-hoc staff and police escorts, were returning from Lokoja to Abuja with the results of the Saturday polls when they came under attacks.

Those injured in the shooting by the gunmen had been rushed to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, for treatment.

Kogi INEC REC, Dr Hale Longpet, and the Kogi NYSC coordinator, Mrs Mofoluwaso Williams, had visited the injured in the hospital.

Spokesperson of the state police command, Williams Ovye-Aya, confirmed the incident, saying that the police were on top of the situation.
