Sim Card Blockage: Subscribers Besieged Ogun NIMC Offices

Scores of telecommunication subscribers besieged the office of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Abeokuta, to link the sim cards of their phones to the National Identity Number (NIN).

Also besieged were offices of telecommunication firms, such as GLO, MTN, Airtel, and 9mobile in the city.

The rush, followed the disconnection of thousands of sim cards by telecommunication firms from their network, as from Tuesday, for not linking them to their NIN as at Monday.

Some of the subscribers told a Rockcity FM correspondent, Tobi Ojeleye, that they failed to meet the deadline because they had issues with either their names or dates of birth.

Head of local government coordination at the NIMC office, Wole Okunowo, asked subscribers coming to the commission’s office, to visit all their accredited front end parties for NIN registration.

According to him, over 500 of such accredited front end parties are in Ogun state, including MTN, GLO, Airtel, and 9mobile.

Okunowo said the NIMC office in Abeokuta is focusing more on modification while front end parties are doing registration.
