Rotimi Ameachi Asks Nigerians to Stop Complaining About the Leaders They Elected

Former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Ameachi has asked Nigerians to stop complaining about the quality of leadership running the country.

Amaechi, a 2023 presidential poll aspirant, speaking on a television program said, Nigerians are getting the kind of leaders they deserve.

Nigerians, according to the former Rivers State Governor, were always allowed to vote and choose their leaders.

He said they should not complain about the consequences of such opportunities given to them to pick their leaders.

Amaechi was the runner-up in the presidential primaries of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

He scored 316 votes behind the winner, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who obtained 1,271 votes to pick the party’s ticket for the presidential poll.

The former governor stressed that tackling the negative effect of the ‘Japa’ syndrome in Nigeria requires an approach that focuses on improving governance systems.

He outlined the economy, insecurity, and a lack of job creation as factors driving citizens outside, stating that only the government can address these issues.

Amaechi, however, noted that Nigerians cannot complain about the suffering and lack of economic opportunities after voting for their leaders.

I’m avoiding where you’re going. You can’t discuss the issue of Nigeria without discussing politics. It’s because you have to discuss the issue of the economy.

Who manages the economy? The government. You have to discuss the issue of safety and security, who manages safety and security? The government.
