Retired Officers Protest At Defence Headquarters Over Unpaid Allowance

A group of retired military officers, defying Monday’s morning heavy rainfall, have protested outside the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

The retired officers, under the auspices of Coalition of Veterans and the Retired Members of Nigerian Armed Forces, were protesting over their unpaid debarment allowances and others.

Accompanied by relatives of late officers, they blocked all access roads into the complex

Their spokesman, Abiodun Herbert told newsmen that they will remain outside the defence headquarters until their allowances are paid.

Retired officers had in January this year, picketed the Ministries of Finance, Defence, and the National Assembly, resulting in President Buhari approving payment of the debarment allowances as required by the government.
