Residents in Lagos Consume 328 Billion Naira Beef Yearly

Residents in Lagos state are consuming an average of 328 billion naira worth of beef every year.

This translates to 181,757 tonnes of beef or one million, 235 thousand, and 601 cattle being consumed by residents in Lagos.

Permanent secretary in the state agriculture ministry, Mrs. Ibironke Emopkpae, rolled out the figure at a cattle feed lot screening for 36 investors in Lagos.

She says that 98 percent of the cattle were sourced from states in the north, while the remaining are from local sources in the state.

The permanent secretary says the ministry had received more than 150 expression of interest as against the proposed 100.
