A 35 year old man, Idowu Shittu, is now in police net for allegedly raping an eleven year old girl at Ifo, near Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The girl was a cousin of his wife living in their home located on Halleluyah street.

Police arrest the suspect after the girl told her sister that her husband had been forcefully having her carnal knowledge.

According to the spokesman of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, policemen from the Ifo divisional police headquarters arrested the suspect after the incident was reported to the police.

He said that the girl told detectives that she lost her mother as a toddler, and had been living with her sister.

She alleged that the suspect had been forcefully sleeping with her for a long time, and could not report because she had no other place to go.

The girl, according to the police, said she told her sister because she could no longer endure the bitter experience.

The state police commissioner, Lanre Bankole had ordered the transfer of the suspect to the police’s investigation and intelligence department for further investigation.
