Monday, October 9

On Monday October 9, 2023, we said that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said there was a need for its personnel to carry firearms when discharging their duties, considering the level of security challenges across the country, stating that the measure would ensure adequate protection for the personnel who are often attacked in the course of duty by some road users.

According to the Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, they were still waiting to be given the go-ahead to start using arms, stressing that the issue of FRSC bearing arms has been on the front burner since 1992.

Tuesday, October 10

On Tuesday October 10, 2023, we said the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, disclosed that the Federal Government will reintroduce the TraderMoni scheme next month.

Tradermoni was one of the programs under the Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme (GEEP) introduced by former President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Betta Edu, with the reintroduction of the scheme, each beneficiary is expected to get N50,000 to support their business, adding that it will be a one-off interest-free loan, with those who repay qualifying for another loan.

Wednesday, October 11

On Wednesday October 11, 2023, we told you that the Senate embarked on an amendment to the National Social Investment Programme Agency Act (NSIPA), 2023, aimed at moving the agency from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to the Presidency.

The Leader of the Senate, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, who initiated the bill, stated that the agency would now be under the direct supervision of the President.

According to Bamidele, the amendment is a result of the commitment of the Renewed Hope mantra of President Bola Tinubu to ensuring that social investment programs are standard, transparent, effective, and accountable.

Thursday, October 12

On Thursday October 12, 2023, we said the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, urged President Tinubu to reintroduce himself to Nigerians and to the world for the avoidance of further doubt, and if he had a change of name, he should state clearly the time and circumstances, adding that it is a simple task that will only take a few minutes.

According to Obi, it is only Tinubu himself, through a direct personal statement, that could clear up every speculation about his true identity, while urging Tinubu to let the world know his name, his place of birth, his current age, the primary and secondary schools he attended with dates, as well as the actual universities he attended and certificates he obtained.
