Protests against the naira notes crisis resurfaced in Ogun State on Friday with protesters blocking Mowe and Ibafo roads.

Protesters for several hours blocked the busy Lagos-Ibadan and Lagos-Abeokuta expressways in the morning.

On the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, the protesters blocked Papalanto, Itori, Ifo and Sango Ota sections of the expressway, over the scarcity of the naira, the rejection of the old N500 and N1,000 notes and petrol shortage.

They made bonfire on the road and blockaded it, disrupting traffic flow.

Also on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, protesters blocked Mowe and Ibafo Areas.

Hundreds of trucks and other vehicles and commuters were stranded, while hundreds resorted to trekking to their various destinations.

Spokesman of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi said while people have the rights to protest, they must not disrupt public peace.
