Police Place Top Police Officers on Red Alert, Anticipate Cultists Attack

Police have placed its top police officers in Ogun state, on red alert, for likely deadly attacks by members of cult groups on Thursday.

According to the police, intelligence report reveals that various cult groups in the state are planning to mark 7/7 day on Thursday.

The state police commissioner, Lanre Bankole says the 7/7 day event may lead to bloodletting and wanton destruction of property.

The commissioner in a statement, by the state police command spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi says that area police commanders and top police officers have been placed on red alert.

Also on red alert, according to the police chief, are tactical squads such as SWAT, anti-cultist and anti-kidnap units, to deal with any likely threat  to security during the event.

Bankole, vowing that police are battle ready, asks parents and guardians to warn their wards and children to stay away from illegal gatherings or societies  before and on Thursday.

Hoteliers operating in the state are also cautioned against allowing their facilities to be used for cult activities during the period, or they would be arrested and prosecuted.
