Police Nab 203 Suspected Electoral Offenders, Seize Firearms During February 25 Poll

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) Headquarters says 203 suspected electoral offenders were arrested during the February 25 presidential poll for various electoral offenses.

Also, police on electoral security duty recovered from political thugs 18 firearms of various calibers. Police also responded to 185 major incidents during the polls.

Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, announced this on Monday, at a meeting with the strategic police management including deputy inspectors general at the force headquarters.

The police chief said the force headquarters was investigating those arrested and would be handed over to the legal department of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for prosecution.

The governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC), Sheikh Khail who spoke on behalf of eight other governorship candidates said there was a plan to issue uniforms of security agencies to political thugs during the polls.
