Police Deploys Squad to Secure Long Bridge, Ibafo From Robbers

Ogun state police command has deployed its tactical team to keep watch on the long bridge axis of the Lagos-Ibadan road, near Ibafo, over the rising attacks by robbers on commuters and motorists during traffic gridlock.

Robbers have been taking advantage of the heavy traffic caused by the ongoing reconstruction of the Kara end of the bridge to rob commuters in the area.

The state police commissioner, Lanre Bankole ordered the deployment of the tactical squads, after paying a visit to the long bridge on Thursday an the on-the-spot assessment of the security situation.

The commissioner assured people in the area that police will do all within its powers to flush criminals out of the area.

Spokesman of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi says that police discovered that some hoodlums posing as hawkers of goods on the long bridge during the traffic gridlock were robbers.

Those hawking goods on the long bridge are advised to vacate the area immediately.
