Police Ban Sale And Use Of Fireworks During Yuletide Season In Ogun

The Ogun State Police have ordered a total ban on the sale and use of any form of firework, including banger, before and during Christmas and New Year celebrations in Ogun State.

The state police commissioner, Lanre Bankole, says the law banning the use of firework was still in force .

Bankole also asks organizers of any form of carnival and procession in the state during the festive period to get an approval from the police before doing it.

He asks members of the public to report any strange faces and movements, as well as gatherings to the police.

The police chief also said that a large scale and elaborate tactical and covert police officers have been deployed to ensure a crime free Christmas and New Year celebrations across the state.

Accordingly, he said that operatives of special units, such as SWAT, Police Mobile Force, Tactical Response and Intelligence Units, as well as Anti-kidnapping and Cultism Units.

The police commissioner also said he had ordered a 24 hour surveillance patrol to worship centres, event and also recreational centres.
