Police say they have arrested a robbery suspect who was allegedly heading for a robbery operation in Ota axis of Ogun state.

According to the police, Waheed Ijiyemi was arrested by a police team from Onipako police station who are on a routine patrol on Tuesday.

Spokesman of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspect who was on a motorcycle on sighting the patrol abandoned the motorcycle and took to his heel.

Oyeyemi said the policemen chased him and got him arrested during which they searched the bag in his possession.

The police spokesman alleged that a locally made pistol with ten live cartridges were found in with the robbery suspect who confessed he was on his way to a robbery operation when he was caught.
