Police Arrest Kidnappers Terrorizing Travelers On Lagos-Ibadan Road
Some of the suspected kidnappers terrorizing travelers on the Ogun and Oyo segment of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway are now in police net.
Four suspects arrested by police in Oyo State, identified as Muhamad Salfa, Usman Hassan, Muhammad Bello and Mikailu Yahaya were paraded on Thursday at the police command headquarters in Ibadan.
Recovered from them included N7.5 million cash, 75AK 47 ammunition, two pairs of camouflage and a police beret.
Spokesman of the state police command, Adewale Osifeso, said the suspects belonged to a kidnap gang which killed a police inspector, while leading a police team to rescue travelers on the expressway.
Among the abducted travelers at the Ogun/Oyo boundary on the expressway, included a University of Ibadan Professor and two students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.
The police spokesman said they took those abducted into a thick forest and later demanded ransom from the families of those abducted.
