Police Alert Of Plot To Use Economic Challenges To Cause Mayhem In Ogun

Police alerts plots by some criminal elements in Ogun State to take advantage of the economic challenges facing the country, to disrupt the peace in the state.

The state police commissioner, Frank Mba, who issued the alert on Sunday, said the State Police Command was in possesion of an intelligence on the planned plot.

He ordered the state’s area police commanders and divisional police officers to arrest and bring to book any individual or groups seeking to forment trouble in the state.

Mba said the police would not fold its arms and allow criminal elements to hide under any guise, to unleash mayhem on residents, private and public properties as well as, critical national infrastructures, banks and offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The police Chief asks parents and guardians, as well as , civil society organizations, political and religious leaders, and other critical stakeholders, to prevail on chldren, wards and their followers not to resort to violence.

In the past days, the state had recorded violent protests twice over the naira notes squeeze, leading to attacks on some of the banks in the state.
