PDP Drops Zoning of 2023 Presidential Ticket, Throws it Open

The PDP has finally decided to drop the zoning of its 2023 presidential ticket, ending the suspense which had been creating political tension nationwide.

The party, however, is not ruling out the adoption of consensus to pick its candidate for the 2023 presidential poll, if there is need for it.

The party made this known in a communique issued after the meeting of its national executive council on Wednesday night ending close to 11 pm.

According to the council, the decision aligned with the recommendations of the Ortom committee on zoning that presidential aspirants from all the geo-political zones could aspire for the ticket.

The council says the Ortom committee’s report is in the interest of justice and fair play.

It also ratified the conduct of presidential primaries for May 28 and 29 in Abuja, and the setting up of the national convention planning committee under the leadership of Senator David Mark.
