Pay rise Proposed For Political Office Holders, Judiciary And Legislators

The Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) says it has finalized arrangements to raise the remunerations of public, judicial and political office holders in the country.

Among those benefit from the proposed pay rise are the President and his deputy, Governors and their deputy, Judges, Chief Justice of Nigeria, National Assembly Members, Political Office Holders, including Ministers.

The commission’s chairman, Mohammed Sheu, announced this during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, Aminu Tambuwal in Abuja.

He explains that the last time their remuneration was reviewed was on 2008.

At the moment, the president received more than N14 million  per annum; the Vice President (over N12 million), Ministers, Secretary to the Government, Head of Service, Chairmen of Constitutional Bodies (over N7 million), Ministers of State and Members of Constitutional bodies ( over N7 million) while Special Advisers including Speech Writers got over N7 million.

This is apart from their entitled allowances like accommodation, furniture, duty tour allowance, postcode, medicals, severance gratuity, leave and motor vehicle loan.
