Osun state government is to conduct LG poll on October 15, a month to the hand over of power by Governor Gboyega Oyetola to the governor elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
Chairman of the state independent electoral commission, Segun Oladitan, announced the date of the LG poll, at a news conference held in Osogbo on Monday.
He says that it will be a direct poll, like the presidential poll.
He explains that ward Councillors and chairmen will be elected separately.

Meanwhile, the electoral body chairman has cried out over life threatening messages he has been receiving over the October 15 poll.
Oladitan explaining that the council poll is in line with the provisions of the electoral act 2022, says those issuing the threat vows to arrest and jail him.
He asks politicians to stop heating up the polity, saying he is aware of several cases still in courts.
The PDP which is scheduled to take over from the ruling APC in October, had protested against the holding of the poll by the Oyetola administration.
