Ortom Claims He Has Not Seen New Naira Notes, Calls For Buhari’s Intervention

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State says he has not set his eyes on any of the redesigned naira notes, six days to the withdrawal of the old notes from circulation.

The governor wondered what would be the fate of those in villages if he is yet to see the new naira notes which had been in circulation since December 15, 2022.

Ortom expressed concern over the January 31 deadline for the change of the old notes.

He spoke on the issue while receiving members of the governor council of Joseph Tarka University, Makurdi, at the Benue state government house, Makurdi.

The governor backed the call by the national assembly for the extension of the January 31 deadline for six months.

He asks president Buhari to intervene in the call for the extension of the deadline in view of the scarcity of the new naira notes, to reduce the pains that people are going through.
