Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has demanded an upward review of the retirement age of all the civil servants in the country.

It suggested the raise of the retirement age from 60 to 65 years, or 40 years in service.

NLC president, Joe Ajaero, made the call on Monday during the may day rally at the eagles square, Abuja.

He  said the proposed retirement age, being enjoyed by a section of  workers should be extended to the core civil servants and those in some establishment.

Ajaero also called for the review the gap between the salaries of core civil servants and other civil servants in the public service.

The NLC president however disclosed thus:

There is no basis for the discrepancy since all the civil servants in the public service possess the same qualification and cognate experience on the job.
