Olubadan Asks Atiku To Create Ibadan State If He Wins In February Poll

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun has demanded the creation of the Ibadan state, out of Oyo State from Atiku Abubaka of the PDP.

The monarch made the call while receiving the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, in his palace in the Oyo State Capital, on Thursday.

The monarch, who spoke through one of his high chiefs, Chief Tajudeen Abiola said traditional rulers and people of Ibadan land want their own state.

The Olubadan asked Atiku to create the proposed state, if he is elected in the February 2023 presidential poll.

Oba Balogun also urged Atiku Abubakar to reconcile with the G-5 PDP governors to enable the party goes into the February/March polls as a family.

G-5 Governors, including Nyesome Wike (Rivers); Samuel Otorm (Benue); Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu); Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Seyi Makinde(Oyo) were at loggerheads with Atiku over the resignation of the national chairman of the party, Iyiocha Ayu.

Atiku who visited Ibadan, Oyo State, where he addressed a political rally in continuation of his ongoing electioneering campaign, promised to introduce a reform that would create roles for traditional rulers in the running of the country.

According to Atiku, his proposed reform would enable them to play more active roles in the security of the country.

Atiku said PDP government would make sure traditional rulers are relevant across the nation particularly at this time the country is experiencing many security challenges.
