Ogun State Tasks Its Accountants on IGR

Accountants in Ogun State ministries, departments and agencies have been asked to come up with fresh ideas on how the state government could increase its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Finance commissioner, Dapo Okubadejo at a meeting with the director of finance in various MDAs at the governor’s office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, also asked them to block leakage of revenue.

Okubadejo, who is also the state governor’s chief economic adviser, urged them to ensure that the state government generates enough revenue to meet its obligations to the people.

He explained that the current economic situation has made the IGR a major factor in the performance of government, and for the state to device ways of shoring up its revenue.

The chief economic adviser promised that accountants in the state civil service would be exposed to training and re-training, seminars and workshops to attune them to the modern trend in their profession.
