Ogun Records Sharp Drop in Registered Voters for 2023 Polls

Ogun state has recorded a sharp drop in the number of registered voters compared to the period before the 2019 polls despite the just concluded continuous voter registration exercise.

Ogun state, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on its website now has a total of 2,720,422 eligible voters on its register ahead of the 2023 polls.

The figure is lower than 2,822,346 eligible voters recorded for the state for the 2019 polls.

Unlike in Ogun state, other states in the south west region, recorded an increase in the number of eligible voters registered for the 2023 polls.

For instance, Osun state’s registered voters rose from 1,680,498 in 2019 to 2,043,107 ahead of 2023.

Ondo state also rose to 2,047,598 from 1,822,346 in 2022.

Also, Oyo state recorded 3,330,336 eligible voters ahead of 2023, from 2,934,107.

Lagos state also recorded an increase in its eligible voters from 3,570,291 to 7,153,920.
