Ogun Proposes Public Holiday For Traditionalists

Ogun State government is considering the introduction of a public holiday for traditionalists in the state.

Governor Dapo Abiodun says he is considering the issuance of an executive order to legalise the proposed holiday.

The governor gave this indication in Abeokuta on Tuesday at a workshop on the campaign against ritual killings and quackery, organized by the Ogun State alternate medicine board and the state police command.

The governor assured the traditionalists that he would sign the executive order to legalize the proposed holiday.

He also announced plan of the state government to establish a college of complimentary and traditional medicine, to standardize the training of practitioners and help to reduce the level of ritual killings.

Abiodun adds that his administration would liaise with relevant bodies to actualize the proposed college of complimentary and traditional medicine.
