Ogun Police Say Land Grabbing Is On Their Front Burner

Police say the threat posed by land grabbers is on the front burner of the Ogun State Police Command.

The state Police Commissioner, Abiodun Alamutu, made this known while receiving the Chief Executive Officer of the Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, Babatunde Adeyemo at the state command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

The police chief said the command would clamp down on the land grabbers who are disturbing the peace of the state.

According to him, land grabbers have continued to frustrate business owners, especially estate agents operating in the state.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, has identified land grabbing as one of the major security threats facing the state.

Also, the state House of Assembly is considering reviewing the sanctions in the existing act to cope with the fresh challenges posed by the land grabbers to investors in the state.

In another news, Governor Dapo Abiodun has inaugurated a 16-member Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the coordination of the twenty second National Sports Festival to be hosted by Ogun State in 2024.

Abiodun, inaugurating the committee at the governor’s office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the state was more than prepared to surpass previous editions and the achievements recorded during the last festival held by the state in 2006.

The governor noted that his government is ready to continue to put in place world-class sporting infrastructure across the length and breadth of the state.

The governor, urging members of the committee to embrace the responsibility given to them with a deep sense of purpose, called for their attention to detail, effective planning and seamless execution to host a remarkable edition of the festival.

Chairman of the Local Organising Committee; Bukola Olopade commended Governor Abiodun for bidding and winning the right to host a successful National Sports Festival.

He acknowledged Abiodun for being the first Nigeria’s governor to ensure that all the state’s athletes at the last National Sports Festival in Delta State, went home with cash rewards, irrespective of winning or losing.
