There is a fresh anxiety in Ogun PDP, as an appeal court sitting in Ibadan, has ordered an Ogun state high court in Abeokuta, to hear an application filed by the party’s parallel governorship candidate, Chief Segun Sowunmi.
Justice Chude Uwa of the appellate court on Monday, sets aside the ruling of the state high court, which rejected the application of Sowunmi, challenging the handling of the party’s governorship primaries by the state working committee.
The state high court’s judge, Justice Abiodun Akinyemi in his ruling on Sowunmi’s application last May 19, declined jurisdiction in the matter, which according to him, is an internal affairs of the party.

Sowunmi, a governorship candidate of a faction of Ogun state PDP, asked the Ogun state high court, to dissolve the Ogun state PDP state executive committee on the ground that it was biased in dealing with its governorship aspirants.
He alleged that the party’s exco purchased the PDP nomination and interest forms for one of the aspirants, Honorable Ladi Adebutu, who eventually emerged as the party’s governorship candidate.
Accordingly, Sowunmi wants the court to bar the Ogun state PDP executive committee from conducting the governorship primaries.
He also wants the court to order the constitution of a three member caretaker committee to conduct a fresh governorship poll.
