Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a couple for child abuse in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The couple, 53-year-old Hussaini Rufai and his 30-year-old wife were arrested for locking up five-year-old Saidat Oseni in a building for six months.

The state commandant of the corps, Kolawole Taiwo, parading the couple at a news conference in Abeokuta, said the girl was the younger sister of the wife.

The commandant said the girl was rescued in a joint effort by the operatives of the corps and officials of Ogun State Women Affairs and Social Development Ministry.

The girl, according to the commandant, was later taken to the state hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta for medical care.

The commandant explains that the girl had lost her mother, while her father works in Edo State.
