The Ogun State Council of Obas has described the Supreme Court’s judgment validating the election of Governor Dapo Abiodun in the 2023 polls as an act of God.

The monarchs say they are happy that the apex court confirmed him as the winner of the poll.

The monarchs stated this at the governor’s office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, to felicitate with the governor on his victory at the Supreme Court over the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate, honorable Ladi Adebutu.

The chairman of the council, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the paramount ruler of Remoland, who spoke on behalf of the council members, Baales, and high chiefs, numbering 5,000, said the judgment was a manifestation of God’s benevolence to the governor, his family, and Ogun State.

“It is an act of God; it is only what pleases God that He will do. The victory is a manifestation of God’s benevolence in his (governor) life, his family, and indeed the whole of the state. We are all very joyful.

“He has done very well. Like we said, there is always room for improvement, but he has done very well. We can all attest to that. We still believe his best is yet to come,” he said.

The meeting with the governor had in attendance top monarchs, including the paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Gbadebo; the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle; and the orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo, representing the Awujale of Ijebuland.

Meanwhile, Abiodun said that his victory at the Supreme Court would further spur the infrastructural policy of his administration.

He noted that the well-being of the people would be given priority in his second term in office.
