During their interrogation, the suspects said they targeted the girl because they are desperately recruiting new members, especially females into their cult group.
The mother told the police that Njoku waylaid her daughter while returning from an errand she sent her at Akute Odo.
According to the spokesman of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, Njoku dragged the girl to the hideout of the cultist gang in the area, where she was forcefully initiated after severe beating and rape.
The girl said the cultists warned her not to tell anybody what happened or they will kill her.
Oyeyemi said a police team from Iju Ajuwon divisional police headquarters raided the cultists’ hideout, and arrested the three suspects.
