Ogun Candidate Warns PDP May Not Contest in 2023 Governorship Poll

The factional governorship candidate of the Ogun state PDP, Otunba Segun Sowunmi has asked the party’s national leadership to urgently resolve the fresh crisis in the state PDP else the party may not contest in the 2023 governorship poll.

He warns that Ogun state PDP will be affected if the crisis is not carefully handled by the national leadership, ahead of the 2023 governorship poll.

Sowunmi who belongs to the Kashamu faction, gave this indication on Tuesday while speaking on a Rockcity FM programme, “daybreak show”.

The factional candidate, has already filed a petition at the appeal court, Ibadan, seeking the dissolution of the state executive committee, for allegedly contributing to the purchase of nomination form for his rival candidate, Honourable Ladi Adebutu.

Sowunmi says the PDP leaders are intervening in the issue and hopes they will resolve it in due time because the verdict of the court of appeal on his petition will be the deciding factor.

Despite the fresh crisis, Sowunmi says the state PDP is not sharply divided as in the previous years and will be ready to chase out the ruling APC from power in the state, once the issues are resolved.

Following the fresh crisis, the party held parallel primaries which produced two governorship candidates.
