Ogun Awards Contract for Reconstruction of Ado Odo-Abeokuta Expressway Project

Ogun State Government has awarded contract for the reconstruction of the 63 kilometer Ado-Odo to Abeokuta-Ota expressway road in Ogun West.

The road, according to Governor Dapo Abiodun, would be the most expensive road project to be undertaken by his five year old administration.

The Governor announced the contract award, during the commissioning of the 27 kilometer Owode Yewa—Iwoye-Ilaro road by Former Governor Olusegun Osoba in Ilaro on Thursday.

The Governor said the Ado Odo-Abeokuta Expressway project which is the second busiest road in the country.

He said when completed, the 63 kilometer road would facilitate the evacuation of goods and services through Palanto and Sagamu Interchange to the Lagos-Ibadan expressway to other parts of the country.

Already, the governor said reconstruction of the Papalanto- Sagamu road project has started, while Palanto-Ilaro would begin in due course.

The governor said the newly commissioned Ilaro-Owode road which was in deplorable condition since 1991, would open up Yewa, Ogun state and the country, the for more economic opportunities.

He said that his administration had already constructed between eight and nine roads in Ogun West, and several housing units in Ilaro.

The governor also said his administration aims at making Ogun West the country’s food basket and cotton capital.

The Olu of Ilaro commended the governor and members of national assembly from the senatorial district for the reconstruction of the road which was neglected for a long time.
