Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has called for the upgrading of the community policing to the state police, to cope with the spate of insecurity nationwide.
Obasanjo said that community policing could no longer effectively tackle security threats.

The former president made the call while receiving leaders of the national association of former local government chairmen at his residence within the Olusegun Obasanjo presidential complex, Abeokuta.
He explained that the type policing introduced by the police force has been overtaken by growing insecurity, including terrorism.
Obasanjo also called for the strengthening of the traditional system in the country as well as the local government administration.
