Obasanjo Accuses Politicians Of Dividing Nigerians Along Nigeria’s Fault Lines

Former president Obasanjo says he is worried over the level of mischief of politicians ahead of the 2023 polls.

He said that politicians are deliberately dividing Nigerians along religion, ethnic lines and other fault lines.

In the process, Obasanjo said leaders are now more concerned about their selfish interests than the survival and healthy Nigeria.

Obasanjo again spoke on the state of the nation during the fiftieth anniversary of Federal Government College, Kaduna on Sunday.

He expressed concern over government’s appointments which according to him, are lopsided on the basis of nepotism and mediocrity.

According to the former president, this has widened the gulf of inequality and left many Nigerians in despair.

He adds that the nature of options facing Nigeria in the 2023 polls should not be toyed with. According to him, this is to give all the parts of the country a sense of belonging in the Nigeria project.

Rockcity Fm reported that former president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo opposed the retention of the presidency in the north, after May 29, 2023.

He declared his total support for the change of leadership of the country to the south, after president Buhari leaves office in 2023.

The former president in a statement by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, warns Nigerians that the 2023 polls are a turning point for the country to get things right.

He urges Nigerians not to display emotion during the polls, otherwise they may end up destroying the country.
