NUPENG Orders Petrol Tanker Drivers To Begin 24 Hours Loading Of Petrol

National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has directed petrol tanker drivers and other involved in the haulage of the products to report for duty immediately.

The union ordered them to report at the petrol loading and distribution units nationwide, for a 24 hour nonstop operation.

NUPENG President, Prince Williams Akporeva on Friday said, the directive followed a Thursday meeting of major stakeholders in the petroleum sector at the headquarters of the department of state service in Abuja.

He also cautioned operators of private oil depots and fueling station attendants to avoid the sharp practices which could complicate the petrol crisis.

The DSS, during the Thursday meeting with oil dealers, leaders of private depots operators, tanker drivers, major and independent marketers, gave them until Saturday, to end the queue at fueling stations nationwide.

The security agencies also said it had directed its state commands to enforce the directive if the petrol supply is not normalized at the expiration of its deadline.

Recall that Department of State Service (DSS) has given Nigerian national petroleum company limited (NNPCL) until Saturday, to end the petrol queue at fueling stations and sell the products at an approved pump price to motorists.

The security agency says enough of the petrol crisis and has placed its commands nationwide on red alert, to enforce the directive, at the end of the expiration of the 48 hour deadline.
