NSCDC INTERCEPTS BUS WITH SIPHONED PETROL IN OGUN

A patrol team of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has intercepted a large consignment of petrol siphoned from a vandalized petrol pipeline in Ogun State.

The patrol, acting on intelligence found 95 kegs of petrol loaded in a bus hidden in a forest at Ogere, off the Lagos-Ibadan expressway last Wednesday.

The seized items from the bus included petrol loaded in forty five 50 litres kegs, as well as fifty 25 litres kegs and empty eleven 50 litres keg.

Spokesman of the state NSCDC command, Dike Ogbonna, said the patrol stumbled on the bus while searching Igbo Olobo forest.

Ogbonna said the petrol was suspected to have been siphoned from a major petrol pipeline, near the location where the bus was hidden.

According to him, the state NSCDC commandant, Kolawole Taiwo, had ordered the transfer of the seized bus to the agency’s intelligence and investigation department for further investigations.

Meanwhile, the seized petrol had been handed over the Nigerian National Petroleum Company at the Mosinmi depot, Sagamu.

The vandals who hid the bus in the forest are on the run.
